Great Vintage Garcia Mitchell 306 spinning reel. Made in France. This reel shows wear from use, but works great—a real workhorse. The 306 is a large reel—surf rod size. Bail locks into place as it should for casting and has a strong snap back when reeled. Drag tightens well. Handle reels smoothly and makes that classic Garcia Mitchell clicking sound. This reel's only issue is the reel handle will not fold inward—the finger screw at the end of the handle unscrews, but the handle will not slide out of its seat to rotate inward. This has no effect on how the reel works—a little WD-40 and a rubber mallet would probably free it right up. I just don't have the time. Great reel to fish or to add to your collection. The "Mitchell" reel I am selling is in good working condition, with no broken parts. There is some paint loss , but for a reel of this age, I believe it to be better than most. According to my research, this reel is either the 2nd or 3rd version (1940-1949) of the Mitchell spinning reel. My reasons for saying this is the word Garcia is not on the reel and there are no serial numbers on the foot, simply a letter T. See the article I attached in the pictures. If I am in error, please let me know. But also back up what you are saying. I love learning about old fishing gear, and I am not ashamed to admit I am wrong.
