J W Young Beaudex reel in very good condition with wire line guide. Reel is 4" diameter. 1 3/8" wide overall, spool is 7/8" wide inside. Finish is 95% there with some minor edge from honest use. Reel is dual click/pawl and is reversible retrieve. RHW or LHW. There are no cracks. Dents or major flaws with this reel. The reel foot has a minor bend at one end which could be straightened if needed. The reel performs very well and being a salmon size it could be used on a larger rod. Perhaps a switch or spey rod. Typical of all J W Young reels this reel is tight. Well put together and smooth acting. Edit: Line shown on reel is not included. I have for sale a Heaton. 4" Wooden Nottingham style, Centrepin Fishing Reel. The reel has a star shaped back with a ratchet button mounted on the star. The reel is in good overall condition with some scratches and marks to the wood. You are seeing the reel in the same condition as I received it. Some treatment with a good wood polish will bring this up well. The reel is a good runner. It has a 4 screw Heaton locking latch, twin handles and a stabilised ratchet guide. The star shaped back was introduced as a means of preventing the wooden back from warping. The guided ratchet plate was a further development to stop the ratchet spring from jumping off the pawl. Vintage 3 3/4 inch"Allcocks" Aerial" Reel This fabulous"Allcock's" Aerial" reel is in good"as found" condition and has not been restored or repaired by us. The reel measures 3 3/4 inches across and has"Aerial. Regd No. 365019, Allcocks, Redditch, England" on an applied plaque to the back plate of the reel. The original black paint work is in good condition with only minor losses to the rim of the spool, there are also some small blemishes to the paint finish to the edge of the back plate. The reel revolves smoothly without any wobble and there is no play when the spool is rocked. The ratchet/check lever works ... morefine. Both handles and the chromed foot are sturdy and well attached. The drum release mechanism works fine and the reel is stamped internally"6/64" The reel has its' original box. This is an excellent example of the'Edge Elite' Centrepin or Trotting Fishing Reel. The reel measures 4 1/2" in diameter and is in excellent working order. The reel spins smoothly and there is no undue wobble on the spindle. It measures 1 5/8" from edge to edge with a spool gape of 1 1/16" which is fairly wide for a centrepin. The spool is ventilated and has its cross bar set fairly close to the rims of the spool making for a healthy line retrieve. The reel is fitted with a selective ratchet which is working effectively. If you are looking for a good reel to use then you could do a lot worse than this reel. As you can see from the bacl plate there is some loss of finish to the black coating but this is from honest use rather than abuse. The reel is a good example of ... moreits type and would not be a bad collectors piece.

There is no makers name on the reel but there is little doubt it was made by an accomplished manufacturer. the attention to detail is excellent. It could have been made by Heatons. Smith& Wall or perhaps Allcocks. The reel measures 4" in diameter and the spool has a 1" gape. Rim to rim. It measures 1 7/8" This is a starback reel and has an on/off ratchet switch located on one arm of the starback. The ratchet is strong and it operates efficiently. I have called this reel the Improved model because it incorporates virtually all the devises emplyed to maintain its efficiency. Wooden reels were by the nature of the material use susceptible to warping. Especially when the wood get wet or is left to bake in the Sun. the star back was in itself a form of bracing to prevent warp ... moreacross the grain. The next feature is a lining inside the rim of the back plate. originally these were brass. The brass was later replaced with aluminium, a lighter material. Then came the an metal backplate to the spool. Again, brass was used originally but was replaced with aluminium, again for lightness. The reel had a caged drum, the outer rim of which sat in a recess on the inside of the wooden spool. The spool locks onto the spindle using a 4 screw Heaton style latch. It has finely turned horn handles. The ratchet cog and the pawl are made of similar tempered steel. The pawl spring appears to be aluminium. An additional feature of this reel is that the stabilising guide on the ratchet switch. This ensures the pawl engages correctly with the cog rather than slipping to the side. This reel is a cracker and is a first class example of its type. It also works very well so would suit the person who likes to use old tackle as well as being a collectable.

An excellent example of the Elarex by Hardy Comes in its Rexine case with good leather strap There is an oiler marked'R H ROUND BIRMINGHAM' Also a wire flat head screwdriver marked'TERRYS MADE IN ENGLAND' They were with the reel when I acquired it. I have for sale a 4 1/4" Hardy Perfect Salmon Fly Reel with a wide spool. The reel has the Duplicated Mk II Check Mechanism. It has a smooth brass foot. Nickle silver reverse thread drum locking screw, a rim mounted tension adjuster, Ebonite handle and a rotating nickle silver line guide. The reel has at some stage been put away wet and this has caused some staining to the face of the reel as well as the two spots of corrosion to the rim which I have mentioned above. I am sure the face can be cleaned up if you wish to make it more presentable. The two bites of corrosion are shown in picture 6. Picture 7 shows another view of the area above the pillar. There remains a good depth of metal to the rim and whilst it would be folly to say those areas have not been weakened by this. They do ... morenot render the reel unusable. There is no chance of this failing under normal use. The foot has been lightly filed at one end. There is no excessive play in the reel. I would describe it as a good usable reel. A previous owner has inscribed the initails HW onto the winding plate of this reel. Please get in touch if you have any questions. Before bidding.

Early Australian Brass& Bakelite Pivoting Fishing Reel–No Maker’s Name Hi Ebayers! I’m pleased to offer this wonderful old fishing reel. I cannot find a maker’s name but the spool measures 12 cm or nearly 5 inches across. The backplate. Spool and knobs are made of brown Bakelite and the rod mount and turning mechanism are made of brass. The reel pivots and this type of reel is mostly called a side cast. It had a ratchet but this is not working. It is in very good cosmetic condition with no chips or cracks. It weighs 660g unpacked. The spool is quite wide and would take a large amount of line. Was a Winfield Reel everybody's first fishing reel? Of course not. I keep forgetting that some young fishermen probably cannot even remember Woolworth's! This is a Woolworth's. Winfield 3 3/4" Trout Fly Reel. I am not sure who made this reel but it is a replica or a lookalike of the Pflueger Fly Reel.It has off white hub and winding handle. The reel is loaded with a line so I must assume it has been used but only very lightly. The reel is in near mint condition. The reel comes in its original and striking. Turquoise, zipped case. This reel is in first class condition. It has a black coated back plate and front face of the spool. The rear flange of the spool is anodised blue. I therefore guess that this is a later model. The only real signs of use are some chipping to the end of the reel seat. It has a selective ratchet and drilled holes for locating a line guide. I do not have the line guide and one has neer been attached. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

This is a fairly standard Mahogany Strap Back Reel apart from the fact that it has an offset Ratchet Lever in the style of some early Allcock reels. The reel is 3" in diameter and is 1 7/8" from front to back. The foot and spine of the reel are formed from one piece of brass. Rare& Unusual Cotton Fibre Fishing Line from Car Tyres- 1920s Hi Ebayers! I’m pleased to offer this wonderful old fishing line. It is from the early car tyres that had fibre in the tyre. This line was painstakingly removes from the tyre and I believe it dates from 1926. This was the age of the newspaper it was wrapped into. OI believe it is over 1000 meters(kilometre) long. The paper measures 30 cm or 12 inches long and the roll of fibre is 12.5 cm or 5 inches in diameter and it weighs 820 grams unpacked. It is in good condition and is very strong. vintage 5" Hardy longstone centrepin reel fishing hardys a very nice vintage 5" longstone centrepin i cannot remember seeing a 5" model before. I have not cleaned and it is being listed as found. The normal patina to the alloy body. It is fitted with a clutch which is working well and a linegaurd. The drum seems to be 1 1/4" wide. The images give a good idea of condition 1 small ding to rim.
