Super old vintage trout creel in good shape for a wall hanger.Shows sign of aging. Wicker on top and bottom worn. App.14" wide x 6 1/2" h x 5 1/2" d. Offset fish deposit hole. Up for bid is a very old and very nice vintage creel fishing basket. This item is in very good condition for it's age. Theres no reason why it cant be used for what it was intended; to keep live fish in while you go and catch some more. It has only one minor issue along the base as you can see in the last picture. Other than that it's good to go. This item is an older Japanese wicker and leather fishing creel. As is. It makes a great display/decor piece. With a little repair it could be returned to a functional fishing creel. The wicker is about 95% a few are broken. The leather is dry-rotted on the buckle strap(it's broken) and the carry strap is pulled away. Both these issues are shown in the photos.

The basket measures 15” across base. 9” tall at rear, slanted bottom is 8” deep at back and 6" deep at the front, straight back, forward tapering hinged opening lid with side slot, fish measure stamped to rear hinge. George Lawrence metal plaque is attached to front external tackle wallet/pocket with stud fastening. There are small slits on each side of the pocket to assist with the snap closures. good shape. Nothing missing, all leather is supple with the exception of the buckle to close the basket. when I was getting the basket ready to sell I broke that piece. 1960s vintage Canvas Rubber Waxed Fishing Hunting Creel Messenger Bag Vintage fishing/messenger bag. Cotton canvas with a rubberized interior. There's 2 turning closures on the main bag, 2 snap pockets in front, another on the side, also a zipper compartment in the front. There's a removable strap that has some light fading on it. Condition is excellent, there's evidence of use but its been well cared for. The only issue is one of the grommets from one of the turning snaps has come loose(see pics for details) It's an easy fix for its next owner. This creel belonged to my grandfather. Who was an avid fly fisherman. It would date from the 20s or 30s, but I can't seem to find much info specific to this model. The creel is a model 50, size 3; the bottom is 14 in. across and 5 1/2 in deep, the lid is 11 1/2 in across and 7 in. deep. The basket is 8 3/4 in. deep and the creel including the lid in 9 1/2 in. tall. The metal tag is intact with McMonie misspelled. Apparently the company received a large batch of tags with the typo, and rather than reorder decided to just use them. There is a remnant of a green paper tag on the bottom. The original strap is attached, but is worn and cracked. The rest of the leather appears to be in pretty good shape. Saw no faults in the weave, but took plenty of pictures, so judge for yourself. Rarely up ... morefor sale, these creels are considered to be some of the most beautiful and desirable of all leathered creels, noted for the quality of craftsmanship in their work. I've had this vintage creel over 20 years. Having bought it in Ontario during a fishing trip. The body of the creel is made of double layers of birch bark with the white bark side to the interior. It measures 10 inches tall by 12 inches wide at its tapered base. It is laced with thin strips of what appears to be either light colored deer or moose hide and has hinges, a hanging loop on the back, and a strap for the peg that closes the latch made of what appears to be a darker dyed deer hide. The top has a center hole cut for inserting the caught fish. This great birch bark creel has never been used for fishing, so it is still as clean as can be both inside and out. This is a very rare steelhead size creel woven by the great Daryll Whitehead and leathered by Freeman Mariner. There were only about a dozen creels made by these incredible craftsman and I have never seen another on the market. Very nice and very clean Vintage wicker fishing basket. This was a gift from my late brother in law who recieved it from his grand father. So yes it is very old and in very good condition. As it was on display in his cabin the entire time he owned it. All original with exception to the shoulder strap which may or may not be I am not sure. Made by the Oregon Saddle makers.

This is a creel. Or more specifically, an Arcticreel from Cabelas. It is a bag that successful fisherman sling over their shoulder or under their arm, and provides a place to stow your catch, while keeping them cold and fresh. It is made of flax fromScotland. As long as you keep it wet(dipping it in the spring-fed water) your fish will stay fresh while you continue to fish. There is a rubber apron layer on the back to keep the fisherman dry. There is a flap over the top that snaps closed. There is a pocket on the front that zips securely shut. There is a strong sturdy vinyl strap that can be adjusted to just the right comfortable length for you. There is also a movable rubber piece that sits on top of your shoulder and will cushion you against the weight of the fish. Also a handy inch ruler ... moreis on the front so you can accurately measure your catch. No holes. The strap is like new. No signs of other wear. The only flaws I see are a couple of areas that look this grease, one on the front, one on the inside of the front flap(photos 2 and 8) and one on the side. Estate sale find and I could not see any makers marks. This vintage fishing creel needs some attention with the leather as the top has separated from the body and the straps are in smaller pieces. The cane is in excellent shape with no breaks. Just dirty. Measures 15" at the bottom widest portion, 6" deep and about 9" tall. I am sure someone out there is a good enough of a craftsman to bring this one back ot original shape. If not, use for parts. Priced to sell and i ship as fast as you pay. The creel is in very good shape for its age and would still work as originally intended. The creel is about 13 inches wide. 8 inches deep, and 8 inches tall.
